SUMMARY:Handbuild Your Own Berry Bowl
DESCRIPTION:Looking for a date night or a mom’s night out?  This is a casual workshop\, no experience necessary!  Bring your creativity and your friends for a mindful evening and a chance to unplug.  \nHandbuild your own berry bowl out of brown stoneware clay.  Summer is around the corner\, and it’s time to get ready for your market strawberries\, blueberries\, and blackberries. A custom berry bowl with drainage holes is the cutest summer addition to your kitchen table! \nMake Your Own Berry Bowl Workshop – Wed March 4th from 7-9pm. \nThis workshop is sponsored by Elan Transfers. Elan Transfers offers a vibrant collection of high-quality\, artist-designed underglaze decals created specifically for today’s ceramic artists.  In 2018\, Leigh Anne began collaborating with graphic designers and fellow artists to develop a line of transfers that reflect the creativity and diversity of the modern ceramic community. Today\, Elan Transfers is proud to be the leading source for contemporary underglaze decals\, offering over 400 unique designs in a wide range of colors and styles. \nThe Process: \n\nLearn how to roll a perfect slab of clay\nCut out the template with precision\nLearn how to use transfer sheets with minimal bleeding\nAttach your sides by scoring and slipping the clay for secure attachments\, including a foot\nCustomize your berry bowl with stamps and cut-outs\nAll materials\, clay\, and tools are included \nThis workshop will last 2-2 1/2 hours\n\nYour berry bowls will dry slowly\, then get fired and glazed\, ready for pick-up 4-6 weeks later. \nA curated selection of drinks and snacks will be provided for a complete night out!   \nOur studio is small\, and space is limited to a maximum of 12 guests (unless otherwise specified). \nParking is free and plentiful. Bathrooms are clean and across the hall. Please come dressed and ready to get your hands and maybe even your clothes a little dirty. \nPlease arrive on time so that we can start the project with enough time for completion. If guests arrive more than 30 minutes after the start time\, they may be unable to finish their project. Ariella will do her best to accommodate for lateness and skill level\, repairing work when she can to ensure the highest likelihood of survival through the kiln process. \nWorkshops & Family Clay Date cancellation and refund policy: 50% refund with written cancellation up to 1 week before the workshop. Cancellations received less than 1 week before will not be refunded. Rescheduling due to illness is permitted only once. \nPLEASE NOTE: There are NO guarantees in pottery! \nWhile working in clay is calming\, pottery comes with many unknowns. Pottery is unpredictable and sometimes unforgiving. While Ariella will do her best to walk you through each step of the process\, sometimes cracks and issues present themselves along the way. Either in the soft and malleable stage\, or as the piece dries and hardens\, and even into the bisqueware stage\, clay moves and shifts. Even the best potters cannot predict the outcome\, so please keep this in mind! Working in clay is meditative and gratifying; however\, it is also humbling\, as there are many factors out of our control.  This is the magic of ceramics- learning to let go and allowing for the process to guide you\, and accepting that we are not always in control. SUMMARY:Luster Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Have you always wondered how some handmade ceramics are covered in gold?  \nIn this workshop\, you’ll learn how to apply Sao Bao Studio gold and silver water transfers to your finished pieces.  This is a special third firing your pieces will undergo in the kiln. Bring up to 6 glazed pieces\, ready to go.  Any finished pieces fired to cone 5+ will work.  You can also bring in already luster-painted pieces\, but please note NO liquid luster will be applied in the studio!  \nLuster Workshop – Friday June 5th\, from 2 pm – 4 pm. \n\nBring up to 6 glazed and finished pieces\nPieces can be previously fired to cone 5 – cone 10\nLiquid luster to be painted on at home (outside of the studio)\nUse of gold/silver/mother of pearl luster decals on hand in the studio \nUse of third firing overglaze decals on hand in the studio\nPieces will be fired that day and ready for pick up on March 16th\n\nOur studio is small\, and space is limited to a maximum of 12 guests (unless otherwise specified). \nParking is free and plentiful. SUMMARY:Weaving Workshop Frame Loom
DESCRIPTION:Beginner Frame Loom Weaving Workshop \nDiscover the art of frame loom weaving in this beginner-friendly workshop led by Courtney Salerno [@madeby_cjk]. In a relaxed and welcoming environment\, you’ll learn the fundamentals of frame loom weaving – from setting up your loom and choosing yarns to mastering basic weaving techniques like plain weave\, rya knots\, and soumak. Together\, we’ll explore texture\, color\, and pattern\, and you’ll leave with your own small woven wall hanging\, perfect for your home or as a handmade gift. \nNo experience is necessary. Just bring your creativity and curiosity! All materials\, including looms\, yarns\, and tools\, will be provided. By the end of the class\, you’ll not only have a beautiful finished piece but also the skills and confidence to continue weaving on your own.  Materials are available for purchase at the end of the class if you wish to continue on your weaving journey. \nSaturday\, June 13th from 10 am -1 pm \nCome and unwind\, play with fibers\, and tap into the meditative rhythm of weaving!   \nTea\, coffee\, and sparkling water will be provided. Bring a snack! \n***** \nCourtney Salerno is a teacher and fiber artist living in the Hudson Valley\, NY.  She began weaving in 2016 and creates in her home studio on handmade frame looms.  She is mostly self-taught and experiments with a variety of fibers\, including cotton rope\, yarn\, wool roving\, hand-dyed ribbons\, and recycled materials.  Courtney has shown several pieces in galleries throughout the Hudson Valley and beyond.  She also teaches beginning frame loom weaving and weaving in the round classes in the tristate area.
