SUMMARY:Handbuild Your Own Ceramic To-Go Cup
DESCRIPTION:Looking for a date night or a mom’s night out?  This is a casual workshop; some clay experience would be great\, but anyone can do this:). Bring your creativity and your friends for a mindful evening and a chance to unplug. Slip Studio is a top-tier activity for couples in Westchester County. \n Handbuilt Ceramic Travel Mug Workshop – White Plains\, NY\nA Sustainable\, Eco-Friendly\, Mindful Pottery Experience for Beginners\nDitch single-use plastic cups and build your own ceramic to-go cup.  This workshop is about craftsmanship and mindful\, everyday rituals.  Create something special that you can enjoy every day\, a ceramic cup partially closed on one side (for easy cleaning)\, and a carved spout on the other. \n\nIn this workshop\, you will design your own custom travel mug\nSomething beautiful for your desk or your car\nDishwasher and microwave safe\nClay stoneware painted in a variety of underglaze colors\n\nMake your own ceramic to-go cup using white stoneware clay.  Ariella will walk you through the process step by step: \n\nStart with a pre-rolled slab of clay\nCut your template pieces\nDecide on your custom design\, using texture stamps and rollers\nAssemble your cylinder and base\, securing attachments with coils\nCut your spout with precision\nPaint your cup with colorful underglazes\nChoose from a selection of studio-made glazes\n\nThis workshop will last 2-2 1/2 hours. Your to-go cups will slowly dry\, and Ariella will glaze and fire them for you.  Your beautiful cups will be ready for pick-up 4-6 weeks later. \nA curated selection of snacks and beverages will be provided for a complete night out! \nOur studio is small\, and space is limited to a maximum of 12 guests (unless otherwise specified). \nParking is free and plentiful. Bathrooms are clean and across the hall. Please come dressed and ready to get your hands and maybe even your clothes a little dirty. \nPlease arrive on time so that we can start the project with enough time for completion. If guests arrive more than 30 minutes after the start time\, they may be unable to finish their project. Ariella will do her best to accommodate for lateness and skill level\, repairing work when she can to ensure the highest likelihood of survival through the kiln process. \nWorkshops & Family Clay Date cancellation and refund policy: 50% refund with written cancellation up to 1 week before the workshop. Cancellations received less than 1 week before will not be refunded. Rescheduling due to illness is permitted only once. \nPLEASE NOTE: There are NO guarantees in pottery! \nWhile working in clay is calming\, pottery comes with many unknowns. Pottery is unpredictable and sometimes unforgiving. While Ariella will do her best to walk you through each step of the process\, sometimes cracks and issues present themselves along the way. Either in the soft and malleable stage\, or as the piece dries and hardens\, and even into the bisqueware stage\, clay moves and shifts. Even the best potters cannot predict the outcome\, so please keep this in mind! Working in clay is meditative and gratifying; however\, it is also humbling\, as there are many factors out of our control.  This is the magic of ceramics- learning to let go and allowing for the process to guide you\, and accepting that we are not always in control.
