DESCRIPTION:Unplug and explore the art of slow-carving at Slip Studio in White Plains. Join us for a mindful\, 2.5-hour ceramic jewelry dish workshop where you will craft a unique home for your rings\, trinkets\, and treasures. Using premium brown stoneware clay\, you will learn the calming technique of carving “divets” and grooves into a thick clay slab to create a functional piece of art. \nThe Slow-Art Experience: \n\n\nSlab Preparation: Learn to compress\, shape\, and cut a professional-grade stoneware slab. \n\n\nMindful Carving: Ariella will guide you through the meditative process of slowly carving out crevices and grooves. \n\n\nTexture & Design: Use studio tools to smooth\, texture\, and customize your dish with your own aesthetic. \n\n\nFinishing: Choose from our selection of vibrant glazes to finish your piece. \n\n\nYour handcrafted dishes will dry slowly in our studio before being professionally fired. They will be ready for pickup in 4–6 weeks. \nNo prior pottery experience is necessary! This casual\, creative session is perfect for a unique date night or a mom’s night out in Westchester. All materials and tools are included. \n  \nStudio Logistics & Policies\n\n\nSpace is Limited: Our studio is intimate; workshops are capped at 12 guests unless otherwise specified. \n\n\nArrival: Please arrive on time. To ensure everyone completes their project\, guests arriving more than 30 minutes late may be unable to finish. Ariella will do her best to accommodate and assist with repairs to ensure your work survives the kiln. \n\n\nDress Code: Please come dressed to get your hands (and potentially your clothes) a little dirty! \n\n\nAmenities: Parking is free and plentiful. Clean restrooms are located just across the hall. \n\n\nCancellations & Refunds\n\n\nPolicy: A 50% refund is available with written cancellation up to 1 week before the workshop. Cancellations made less than 1 week prior are non-refundable. \n\n\nRescheduling: Rescheduling due to illness is permitted once. \n\n\nA Note on the Magic of Ceramics\n\nPLEASE NOTE: There are no guarantees in pottery! While working in clay is meditative and gratifying\, it is also beautifully unpredictable. Clay moves\, shifts\, and sometimes cracks as it dries or during the firing process—even for the most experienced potters. This is the “magic” of ceramics: learning to let go\, accepting that we aren’t always in control\, and finding beauty in the process.\nWe invite you to enjoy the experience as the most important part of your visit; the final product is simply the icing on the cake!
