DESCRIPTION:A new “working lunch” series on Fridays only. I’m excited to welcome my good friend and amazing cooking instructor\, Kate Solomon to Slip Studio for a pasta dinner.\n \nWe’ll start off by talking all about pasta.  We’ll go over all of the classic Italian shapes\, plus some lesser-known ones.  Kate will teach you how to knead and roll fresh pasta by hand—no machines required. We’ll make classic shapes like orecchiette and cavatelli\, talking through technique and texture.  Pasta Rigate – ridged pasta is used for holding onto thick sauces\, like meat ragu and cream-based sauces.  \n \nWe’ll then settle into making our own pasta texture boards using slabs of leather-hard brown stoneware clay.  Ariella will walk you through carving and shaping\, creating your own unique board.  She will then slowly dry your boards\, fire and glaze them\, ready for pick-up 4-6 weeks later.\n \nAnd finally\, we’ll all sit down for a delicious pasta dinner catered by Kate; pasta with two sauces\, salad\, and drinks.  \n \n\nMaterials\, tools\, clay\, and instruction are all included – plus a delicious sit-down meal:)\n

DESCRIPTION:Come to Slip Studio and be transported to Java\, Indonesia\, for an evening of tasting and learning.  Selvia Tjandra-Stothers will guide us through a typical array of Indonesian produce\, fresh fruit\, and vegetables found at H Mart.  You know\, the ones you don’t know what to do with?!  Selvia will talk about each one and explain how best to use fresh Asian produce in your kitchen.\n \nThen\, we will settle into the studio for a cooking demo and dinner – Lemper Ayam\, sticky rice with coconut chicken wrapped in banana leaves and Putu Ayu\, steamed pandan cake with grated coconut.  Selvia will demonstrate and teach\, we will ask and learn (how to roll Lemper Ayam)\, and taste (both dishes). Join our Ceramic Berry Bowl Workshop and handbuild a functional\, beautiful piece of tableware for your spring and summer harvests. A custom-made stoneware berry bowl (or mini colander) with built-in drainage holes is the perfect addition to your kitchen table—ideal for washing and serving fresh market strawberries\, blueberries\, and blackberries. The Creative Process: Slab & Pinch Construction: Learn to shape a unique vessel using premium brown stoneware clay. Functional Design: We will guide you through the process of measuring and cutting drainage holes to ensure your bowl is as practical as it is charming. Surface Texture: Customize your piece with hand-carved details or your choice of our studio’s colorful glazes. Workshop Highlights: Relaxed Environment: This 2–2.5 hour casual workshop is designed for you to unplug and create. No experience necessary! All-Inclusive: All materials\, tools\, and professional kiln firing are included. Refreshments: A curated selection of drinks and snacks will be provided to complete your creative night out. SUMMARY:A Taste of Indonesia with Selvia Tjandra-Stothers - July 22nd
DESCRIPTION:Come to Slip Studio and be transported to Java\, Indonesia\, for an evening of tasting and learning.  Selvia Tjandra-Stothers will guide us through a typical array of Indonesian produce\, fresh fruit\, and vegetables found at H Mart.  You know\, the ones you don’t know what to do with?!  Selvia will talk about each one and explain how best to use fresh Asian produce in your kitchen.\n \nThen\, we will settle into the studio for a cooking demo and dinner – Lemper Ayam\, sticky rice with coconut chicken wrapped in banana leaves and Putu Ayu\, steamed pandan cake with grated coconut.  Selvia will demonstrate and teach\, we will ask and learn (how to roll Lemper Ayam)\, and taste (both dishes). It is guaranteed to be a delightful and delicious evening!\n \nThis event is alcohol-free and open to anyone 16+.\nTickets must be purchased beforehand and space is limited.\nWednesday\, July 22nd from 7-9 pm \nSelvia Tjandra-Stothers – @mixingbowlmamas\nBorn and raised in Indonesia\, Selvia brings the rich flavors\, traditions\, and storytelling of Southeast Asian cuisine into every dessert she creates.
