Nerikomi Workshop with Flint & Marble

I’m excited to welcome David Jo from Flint & Marble to Slip Studio for this new workshop!

This hands-on class introduces students to nerikomi, a decorative handbuilding technique using layered and patterned colored clay. Students will learn how to build and slice patterned clay blocks and apply them to a simple slab-built form, resulting in a one-of-a-kind functional piece. The class is beginner-friendly and open to all experience levels.

This session will feature David’s March palette, Stone Thaw — soft mineral tones inspired by late winter thaw, including celadon, jade green, smoky gray, wedgwood blue, and blackberry wine, balanced with natural white.

• Step-by-step instructions will be demonstrated by David Jo from Flint & Marble
• All material, tools, clay, and firing fees are included
• This workshop will last 1 1/2 – 2 hours
• Pieces will be fired and glazed in clear glaze, to cone 6
• Pick-up of your finished pieces at Slip Studio 4-6 weeks after class
