Pottery & Handbuilding Classes in White Plains, NY

From beginner basics to intermediate techniques—unplug and create in our intimate Westchester studio.

Spring Session

Spring session classes run for 9 weeks from April 14th to June 11th, 2026.

Slip Studio offers weekly classes for beginner and intermediate artists wanting to explore the magic of hand-building in clay. Our classes are small (6 students max) and we work as a group on two large work tables. You’ll get a chance to learn different hand-building techniques through a variety of projects, and have the freedom to work on your own. Our studio is equipped with a slab roller, wall extruder, and everything you’ll need to make gorgeous ceramics, including tools, white and brown stoneware, commercial and house-made glazes.

Open Studio time for enrolled students and members only.

Students enrolled in a weekly class are welcome to use the studio freely, working on ongoing projects or starting new ones. Enrolled students are entitled to two free open studio time slots per session to complete projects or make up missed classes. Additional open studio time is offered to students at $40 per session.  Although many pottery studios offer free “open studio time”, those studios also charge firing fees and all of the extras that are included in classes at Slip Studio (clay, tools, underglazes, glazes, and firing fees).

Available weekly Open Studio time:

  • Tuesdays: 1:30-3:30 pm & 3:30-5:30 pm (4 slots each)
  • Wednesdays: 1:30-3:30 pm & 3:30-5:30 pm (4 slots each)
  • Thursdays: 1:30-3:30 pm & 3:30-5:30 pm (4 slots each)

If you’re interested in a one-time class, head to WORKSHOPS page. If you have any questions about what’s right for you, feel free to reach out and fill the form

My experience at Slip Shop exceeded my expectations. Took a Tile Mug workshop and cannot believe how beautifully it turned out. The shop is roomy and inviting; it was so organized, I felt immediately comfortable to set up a work area. Firstly, … More I engaged in some light chatter with friendly strangers sharing lovely charcuterie and beverages. Ariella made her own bread; yes please! Back to the clay: there are works to inspire, some finished and works in progress. I saw uniquely designed platters that make me want to sign up for a series of classes so I can make my own. Great experience!

I had a great time at a mom’s night out, learning how to design and paint a plate, chatting with other moms and eating delicious snacks. The studio is new and inviting. Ariella led a great session that was relaxed and insightful with design … More ideas and techniques. I will be back

There are few teachers like Ariella. She brings confidence and fun to every class, making the work feel both joyful and approachable. Whenever I made a mistake, she showed me simple, effective ways to fix it, so I didn’t have to start from … More scratch. Those small, smart tips helped me grow because I could build on what I’d already learned instead of beginning again each time.
Ariella is not only a beautiful artist but also a gifted teacher and a genuinely kind person. Her calm energy and passion for what she does are absolutely contagious. I can’t wait to take another class with her; it’s truly my happy place.

This is an amazing new studio and I am so happy that it is close to my home. I took my kids - three different ages - to family clay day on a day off of school. The studio is beautiful, clean and comfy. Really nice. Ariella was helpful in … More the planning of the projects, was supportive giving tips and ideas. The kids all commented on how nice she is! There was lovely conversation with everyone. It was just a great experience. I could have spent another hour or two there. My hope is for my daughter to join one of her classes, and for me to join an adult class. We all felt right at home there. Ariella is a very talented artist and teacher.
