Gold Luster & Ceramic Overglaze Workshop W

- Description
Add a touch of luxury to your ceramics at Slip Studio in White Plains. Join us for our specialized Gold Luster & Overglaze Workshop, a refined decorative session where you will learn to apply precious metallic finishes—including 24k gold and silver luster decals—to your pottery.
This workshop is perfect for students or makers who have glazed pieces ready for that "extra something." Lusters are applied to already fired, glazed ceramics to create a stunning, reflective metallic finish that completely redefines the piece.
The Luster Experience:
Precious Metal Application: Learn the precision required to apply gold, silver, and overglaze decals for a professional, high-end look.
Design Planning: Ariella will guide you through balancing shimmer and bold metallic accents to complement your ceramic forms.
The Third Firing: Understand the unique low-fire kiln process required to fuse precious metals to the glaze surface.
Precision Tools: Use fine brushes and specialized luster mediums provided by the studio for clean edges and intentional shine.
Workshop Highlights:
Bring Your Own Work: Participants should bring 2–3 pre-glazed pieces (no larger than 8 inches) ready for luster application.
All Materials Included: We provide the 24k gold, silver, decals, fine brushes, and safety gear.
Mindful Focus: Enjoy a calm, clean workspace designed for the slow, intentional strokes luster requires.
Your finished work will undergo a special third firing and be ready for pickup within two weeks. Tea, coffee, and sparkling water provided

A Note on the Magic of Ceramics
- PLEASE NOTE: There are no guarantees in pottery! While working in clay is meditative and gratifying, it is also beautifully unpredictable. Clay moves, shifts, and sometimes cracks as it dries or during the firing process—even for the most experienced potters. This is the "magic" of ceramics: learning to let go, accepting that we aren't always in control, and finding beauty in the process.
- We invite you to enjoy the experience as the most important part of your visit; the final product is simply the icing on the cake!
