Slip Studio updates:I’ve been working hard getting the studio into shape for so many students and members to come through. Unlike my home studio, everything needs “a place”, it needs to be cleaned and replaced, organized and labeled. My friend Steph was gracious enough to teach me the basics of mixing glazes, so that’s what I’ve been doing… mixing and learning and testing new colors, but boy… does all this take a shit-ton of time?! lol Being a potter is one thing and being a teacher is another, but running a studio has taught me that I know very little and there is always MORE stuff to do!! Handbuilding creates a ton of reclaim, and so I’m learning how to manage, mix, and wedge everyone else’s reclaim. Now I understand where the pug mill comes into play!! Seriously, I’m learning so much, and I really love that. Even though I’m not making as much as I’d like, I’m taking pleasure in the business side of things and using all the things I’ve learned along the way. Building things is FUN:) Winter Classes are in full swing! Registration for spring session opens March 2nd. Memberships are available for clay artists who work from home and are looking for community and kiln access. In addition to glazing and firing, Slip Studio offers monthly Member Meet-ups, a get-together for members to make, connect, and share ideas in the studio. Our first Member Meet-up is Friday, Jan 30th, from 12-2 pm. Check the calendar on the website for upcoming dates. I had SO much fun creating the Matcha Workshop with Naoko from Cream Bomb NYC, it reminded me how much I love to learn about FOOD! I’m really excited about the upcoming collab on extra virgin olive oil with Tamara from Agape Premium. If you’re free, snag your spot (if there are any left?!). Is it too late ot wish you a Happy New Year? Stay warm and happy:) |

My experience at Slip Shop exceeded my expectations. Took a Tile Mug workshop and cannot believe how beautifully it turned out. The shop is roomy and inviting; it was so organized, I felt immediately comfortable to set up a work area. Firstly, … More I engaged in some light chatter with friendly strangers sharing lovely charcuterie and beverages. Ariella made her own bread; yes please! Back to the clay: there are works to inspire, some finished and works in progress. I saw uniquely designed platters that make me want to sign up for a series of classes so I can make my own. Great experience! -

There are few teachers like Ariella. She brings confidence and fun to every class, making the work feel both joyful and approachable. Whenever I made a mistake, she showed me simple, effective ways to fix it, so I didn’t have to start from … More scratch. Those small, smart tips helped me grow because I could build on what I’d already learned instead of beginning again each time.
Ariella is not only a beautiful artist but also a gifted teacher and a genuinely kind person. Her calm energy and passion for what she does are absolutely contagious. I can’t wait to take another class with her; it’s truly my happy place. -

This is an amazing new studio and I am so happy that it is close to my home. I took my kids - three different ages - to family clay day on a day off of school. The studio is beautiful, clean and comfy. Really nice. Ariella was helpful in … More the planning of the projects, was supportive giving tips and ideas. The kids all commented on how nice she is! There was lovely conversation with everyone. It was just a great experience. I could have spent another hour or two there. My hope is for my daughter to join one of her classes, and for me to join an adult class. We all felt right at home there. Ariella is a very talented artist and teacher.
