This picture was taken in Ubud, Bali, in April 2025, while on Vessel Retreats with Gemma and Freya Bramble-Carter. Although it’s been almost a year, and so much has happened since, I’ve managed to (mostly) carry this feeling with me. A sense of accomplishment and intent, an inner calmness, and a love for what I’m doing. I like to think that a little of this comes into the studio with me every day. Those Tibetan prayer flags you see hanging on the wall were given to me by Tseyang, maybe they’re helping too?! My space is filled with things from home (past and present), bits and pieces of me and others who’ve crossed my path. I think this is what gives the studio a feeling of quiet, recharge, and connection.
Over the last few months, I’ve been looking back and thinking a lot about friendships, new and old. Sometimes you think your friends are just fine, and then they surprise you, coming out of the woodwork. Some are strangers turned into friends at a moment’s notice, and other times you get back to friends you lost a long time ago and are more than eager to revisit your past (and younger self again:)).
Friends are good. And in times like these, we need to invest! Good people. Good company. And good food. This is what life is about. I hope to see you in the studio soon.
