What do you know about olive oil? It's good for us, yes! But what else do you know about extra virgin olive oil (evoo)?

Tamara, a certified OO sommelier from Agape Premium is going to walk us through important factors we should know when buying, tasting, and using extra virgin olive oil.  We will taste and talk about olive varieties and terroir. We will also talk about cooking, usage, and storage for optimal health benefits. Come hungry to learn and eat!  We'll make some dipping oils to taste and of course, wine and nibbles to share.

The second half of our workshop will focus on making your own garlic grating dish.  We'll have leather-hard small plates for you to paint with slips and underglazes, using sgrafitto tools to make ridges and patterns.  Don't worry, we'll show you how!

This special workshop is designed for anyone who wants to create a one-of-a-kind baking dish to cherish and pass down through generations. Preserve a treasured family recipe, honor your aunt's signature dish, or capture the delicate texture of your grandmother's crochet by pressing it into the clay.

In this workshop, you'll learn how to carve into your very own SKI mug.  Using a technique called sgraffito, I'll teach you how to carve into a ready-made leather-hard mug, creating a ski slope design, a trail map, or whatever tickles your fancy.

Ready. Set. Glaze.

In this hands-on workshop, you'll get a chance to glaze your very own Test Tile Mug.  Choose from a variety of bisque-fired mugs, each one individually shaped. You'll then use your own aesthetic to design your mug using tape resist as a decorating method, in creating a bright and colorful mug. 

Salt Cellar. Salt Pig. Salt Bowl. Call it what you will, it's where to store your cooking salt. Kosher salt. Flaked. Grey sea salt.  Pink Himalayan. 

In this workshop, you'll create a custom vessel using white stoneware clay.  A single or double salt cellar with or without a lid- you get to choose!  You'll also have the use of stencils and stamps in decorating your pieces.  Ariella will glaze and fire your vessels, ready for pick up 4 weeks later.  All materials and tools are provided.

David Jo from Flint & Marble is our guest artist for this special Nerikomi workshop.

This hands-on class introducing students to Nerikomi, a decorative hand building technique using layered and patterned colored clay. Students will learn how to build and slice patterned clay blocks and apply them to a simple slab-built form, resulting in a one-of-a-kind functional piece. The class is beginner-friendly and open to all experience levels.

I'm excited to welcome my good friend and amazing cooking instructor, Kate Solomon, to Slip Studio for a homemade pasta workshop!

Part 1: We'll be talking about pasta.  Kate will demonstrate how to mix and knead homemade semolina pasta dough: rolling and shaping classic Italian shapes.  No machines, just hands and know-how, Kate will guide us through techniques for classics like orecchiette and cavatelli, focusing on the perfect texture and sauce pairing.

Part 2: À tavola! Once we are all done working, we'll sit down and enjoy a delightful pasta dinner prepared by Kate.  Homemade crostini, a possible cheese plate or seasonal dip, pasta two ways, and a glass of wine to wash it all down.  We'll sit down and enjoy our company and all of our hard work together.

Part 3: Pottery time!  With a ready-made slab of brown stoneware clay, Ariella will walk you through carving your own ceramic texture board (rigate board).  You’ll learn about carving into clay for texture and relief. This is a mindful and calming experience.  Your ceramic pasta board will dry slowly, and Ariella will fire and glaze them in your choice of our studio-made glazes, ready for pick-up 4-6 weeks later.

Looking for a date night or a mom's night out?  This is a casual workshop, no experience necessary!  Bring your creativity and your friends for a mindful evening and a chance to unplug. 

Handbuild Your Own Matcha Bowl (Chawan) out of brown stoneware clay while sipping matcha and enjoying delicious Japanese cream puffs by Cream Bomb NYC. We'll make matcha bowls large enough to whisk and pour your matcha - measuring around 4-5" wide.

Unplug and create: a screen-free Sunday for the whole family. Bring the kids to the studio for a tactile, hands-on experience. Our Family Clay Date is designed for parents and children (ages 8+) to connect through the messy, joyful art of hand building.

Carve your own jewelry dish out of brown stoneware clay.  This is a mindful and calming exercise of slowly carving clay out of a thick slab of clay and creating divets, crevices and grooves for you to store your rings, jewelry, and trinkets. 

Ariella will guide you through the whole process, creating a true slow-art experience.  Once you are done, Ariella will then monitor your pieces as they dry slowly, fire and glaze them in your choice of the colorful glazes.  Your beautiful dishes will be ready for pick-up 4-6 weeks later.

Discover the meditative art of circular weaving with fiber artist Courtney Salerno, in this hands-on workshop designed for all skill levels. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to expand your fiber arts skills, this class will guide you through the techniques of weaving in the round—from setting up your hoop loom to creating textured, layered designs using a variety of yarns and fibers.

You'll learn:
*How to warp a circular loom
*Basic and decorative weaving stitches

*Tips for finishing and displaying your piece

Join us for a special Kintsugi workshop led by Art Therapist Tara DeLuca. 

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery. If a bowl is broken, rather than discarding the pieces, the fragments are put back together, and the cracks are adorned with gold. There are no attempts to hide the damage; instead, it is highlighted. This practice has come to represent the idea that beauty can be found in imperfection!

A modern Kintsugi approach:

*Break, paint, and rebuild your own ceramic bowl
