Nerikomi Pottery Workshop: Master Colored Clay Techniques
A Special Handbuilding Class with David Jo of Flint & Marble
Slip Studio is proud to host local Westchester artists like David Jo. Our studio in White Plains is a hub for specialized pottery techniques, serving students from Harrison, Greenwich, and Scarsdale looking for unique clay experiences.
This hands-on class introduces students to nerikomi, a decorative handbuilding technique using layered and patterned colored clay. Students will learn how to build and slice patterned clay blocks and apply them to a simple slab-built form, resulting in a one-of-a-kind functional piece. The class is beginner-friendly and open to all experience levels.
Friday March 13th, from 10 am -12 pm
This session will feature David's March palette, Stone Thaw — soft mineral tones inspired by late winter thaw, including celadon, jade green, smoky gray, wedgwood blue, and blackberry wine, balanced with natural white.
- Featured Artist: List David Jo as the performer/instructor.
- Step-by-step instructions will be demonstrated by David Jo from Flint & Marble
- All material, tools, clay, and firing fees are included
- This workshop will last 1 1/2 - 2 hours
- Pieces will be fired and glazed in clear glaze, to cone 6
- Pick-up of your finished pieces at Slip Studio 4-6 weeks after class
