Kintsugi Pottery Workshop with HV Kintsugi

$90.00
Join us for a special Kintsugi workshop led by Art Therapist Tara DeLuca.

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery. If a bowl is broken, rather than discarding the pieces, the fragments are put back together, and the cracks are adorned with gold. There are no attempts to hide the damage; instead, it is highlighted. This practice has come to represent the idea that beauty can be found in imperfection!

A modern Kintsugi approach:

*Break, paint, and rebuild your own ceramic bowl
*Create a connection with your piece and your personal journey
*Highlight the cracks with gold glue, creating a unique design
*Share your journey collectively or in small groups
*This is a mindful workshop of self-healing through pottery and art

Hot tea and snacks will be provided.

In this mindful art therapy workshop in Westchester, you will explore the philosophy of repair as a metaphor for personal resilience and self-healing.

The Modern Kintsugi Process:

  • Break & Rebuild: Learn the historic art form by breaking, painting, and rebuilding your own ceramic bowl.

  • Gold Adornment: Highlight the "scars" of your piece with gold glue, creating a one-of-a-kind design that turns damage into a feature.

  • Mindful Connection: Create a personal connection between your pottery and your own journey in a supportive, collective environment.

  • Guided Healing: Tara DeLuca offers a specialized approach to self-healing through pottery, relating the process of putting pieces back together to our own life experiences.

“Instead of masking the flaws, Kintsugi highlights the cracks, making the piece stronger and more beautiful.”
