All tools, materials, and firing will be included in your class. All you need to bring is yourself and some positive creative energy. Ariella will slowly dry your pieces, getting them ready for the first bisque firing, then she will glaze your pieces in studio-made glazes and fire them once again so that they are food-safe, sturdy, and beautiful!
Your pottery will be available to pick up 4-6 weeks after your class, during regular business hours (Monday-Friday from 10 am-6 pm). If you would like us to ship your vessels, please note that there is an additional shipping cost.
Availability for private parties is limited, so make sure to secure your preferred date and time in advance. Private events must be booked at least two weeks prior.
You are more than welcome to bring in your own food and drinks. If you would like Ariella to cater your food & bev, please refer to the menu option add-ons below.
Terms & Conditions
Party bookings will take place once the party is paid in full and the date and time are confirmed. Cancellations of private events 7 days prior will result in a 50% refund. There are NO refunds possible for events cancelled within 7 days.
Our studio is small, and space is limited to a maximum of 12 guests (unless otherwise specified).
Parking is free and plentiful. Bathrooms are clean and across the hall. Please come dressed and ready to get your hands and maybe even your clothes a little dirty.
Please arrive on time so that we can start the project with enough time for completion. If guests arrive more than 30 minutes after the start time, they may be unable to finish their project. Ariella will do her best to accommodate for lateness and skill level, repairing work when she can to ensure the highest likelihood of survival through the kiln process; however, there are no guarantees in ceramics.
Parties are sold as a package for 8 guests, with the ability to add up to 12 guests maximum. All clay, materials, tools, equipement and firing fees are included in your party fee.
You may bring in your own food & drink OR add-on one of our food & bev packages: $300 serves up to 12 people

Make your next wine and cheese event extra special with a handmade charcuterie board! This is a personal workshop for your next gathering with friends - make your own charcuterie board.
In this workshop, we move beyond a boring slab of wood into a high-fire custom stoneware slab of clay. Presentation is everything - why not make it special and uniquely your own? Using stamps and textures- add personality to your board. Press letters into the clay, stamping your favorite cheeses and salami varieties. Shape divets and rolls, making rooms for honey or savory jams. What do you like serving?
The Process:
Ariella will slowly fire your charcuterie boards, then fire and glaze your pieces for pick-up 4-6 weeks later. She will also add rubber feet to your boards so that they lie flat and do not scratch the surface of your table.
A curated selection of wine, cheese, and nibbles will accompany your evening for a complete night out!
Our studio is small, and space is limited to a maximum of 12 guests (unless otherwise specified).

Workshops & Family Clay Date cancellation and refund policy: 50% refund with written cancellation up to 1 week before the workshop. Cancellations received less than 1 week before will not be refunded. Rescheduling due to illness is permitted only once.
PLEASE NOTE: There are NO guarantees in pottery!
While working in clay is calming, pottery comes with many unknowns. Pottery is unpredictable and sometimes unforgiving. While Ariella will do her best to walk you through each step of the process, sometimes cracks and issues present themselves along the way. Either in the soft and malleable stage, or as the piece dries and hardens, and even into the bisqueware stage, clay moves and shifts. Even the best potters cannot predict the outcome, so please keep this in mind! Working in clay is meditative and gratifying; however, it is also humbling, as there are many factors out of our control. This is the magic of ceramics- learning to let go and allowing for the process to guide you, and accepting that we are not always in control. This is the beauty of clay. So enjoy the workshop, class, or private event, and remember that the experience IS the best part of pottery! The final product is just the icing on the cake:).

Handbuild Your Own Matcha Bowl (Chawan) out of brown stoneware clay while sipping matcha and enjoying delicious Japanese cream puffs by Cream Bomb NYC. We'll make Matcha bowls large enough to whisk your matcha - measuring around 5" wide.
More than just a vessel, the Chawan is the heart of the tea ceremony. In this workshop, we will use the coil method to build the cylinder for our bowls. We will then attach the base and foot to the vessel using slabs and coils.
Embracing Japanese culture, we will focus on wabi-sabi —finding beauty in the unique, organic imperfections of our handmade pieces. We are not looking for perfection but heart and soul!
As a former pastry chef, I understand that the vessel is just as important as the ingredients. We will build our bowl with thick enough walls to retain heat, but a wide enough base to allow for a vigorous, frothy whisk. We will also demonstrate the proper way to prepare matcha at home.
The Process:
Your custom bowls will dry slowly, then get fired and glazed, ready for pick-up 4-6 weeks later.
A matcha demonstration and tasting will be provided, as well as a selection of hot teas, Japanese cream puffs from Cream Bomb NYC, and Japanese crunchy snacks for a complete night out!
Our studio is small, and space is limited to a maximum of 12 guests (unless otherwise specified).

Marisa Löwenstein from The Conscious Creativity Lab will be joining Slip Studio for a guided meditation using sgrafitto as a method for mindfulness and meditation.
We will be combining two awesome experiences into one: Marisa's meditative drawing workshop AND the ancient technique of sgrafitto (from the Italian verb to scratch - sgrafitto is a decorating technique of scratching through leather-hard clay to reveal layers, contrasts, and design).
We'll start off the evening discussing the science and benefits of meditative drawing, a technique used to clear your mind and rediscover your creativity. Then, after a quick demonstration of tools and carving, we'll jump into the meditation portion of the class, as Marisa will guide you through carving your designs into pre-cut/painted slabs of clay. These slabs will turn into beautifully carved cheese boards, which Ariella will fire and glaze for you. Your pieces will be ready for pickup 4 weeks later.

Join Slip Studio and Brooklyn Kura for a unique, hands-on experience celebrating craft, culture, and sake. In this guided workshop, guests will hand-build their own ceramic sake cups under the instruction of Slip Studio's Ariella Toeman, learning fundamental techniques in clay while creating a functional piece to later pick up and take home.
Following the workshop, enjoy a guided brewery tour at Brooklyn Kura, where you’ll learn about the sake-making process and the role of craftsmanship in every pour. The experience includes a complimentary taste of Brooklyn Kura’s freshly pressed sake.
All cups will be professionally fired and glazed, and will be ready for pickup approximately four weeks after the event.
Perfect for sake lovers, craft enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a creative and memorable afternoon.
Space is limited to 12 guests.
For tickets, go directly to: Brooklyn Kura website.
